For our pottery unit I made a pinch pot, a coil pot, a bowl for empty bowls, a fall tray and for my independent project I made three coasters. For my pinch pot I was given slab of clay and I had to form it into a ball and then slowly and lightly press in the middle of the ball and create a hole untill I created a bowl figure. At this stage i have to be very careful with it because it is drying and and can crack and is loosing its elasticity and can make the bowl not look smooth. Next I used a stamp and made texture in my pinch pot by adding the impression of a frog. Once I had finished this I had to let my project dry overnight and then the next day when I came back the pinch pot would be leather hard and I could carve the edges or shave off any sharp or bumpy edges. After I have finished my final touches I have to let it dry even more, so that it becomes bone dry, this is the state in which the clay is most fragile. Once my project has becomes bone dry it is also known as greenware because it is ready to go in the kiln. After firing my projects they were now known as bisque pottery and is now ready to be glazed.
